What is your daily skincare routine for glowing skin? Is it possible to have such vibrant skin when we pass the calendar age? The most common problem everyone has is maintaining glowing younger skin as we age. Both men and women have this concern that we all need to address. Cheer up! I am also one of those people who wants to maintain healthier and glowing skin too.

I suffered from acne problems for almost three years and consulted a dermatologist, but I spent a lot. After many sessions, my skin got too dry, and the acne problem did not go well with all the medicine I applied. I do not blame the dermatologist for what happened because those medicines may be unsuitable for my skin type. I respect and am thankful for her doing her job, but remember, we are all different. What works for one may only work for some. Hence, we should not blame anyone and learn to be more responsible and take charge of what will make us healthy. So, take the tips below with a grain of salt. Do your research and consult your dermatologist or doctor before doing anything.

I realized that putting a lot on your face will damage your skin. As a result, I started the pursuit of experimenting with everything based on the research to heal my face. And voila, I found the best and simplest ones. In this article, you will learn about experience-based, effective skincare routines with a touch of research for a glowing younger you. The tips here are easier to follow, and you do not need to spend too much on expensive beauty products.

The skin is the body’s largest organ. One of its functions is protection. It guards the body against external elements such as bacteria, chemicals, and temperature. Protecting our skin on the outside is essential, but it is not enough. Taking care of your skin by being careful of what you take in is the best way to achieve glowing and healthy skin. Follow the tips below and see a difference in your skin.

  1. Do not immediately wash your face upon waking up. Let the moisturizer you put on at night sit on your skin while doing your chores. This idea is supported by Jill Carlen, Spa Director, who said there is no need to wash your face because you are not exposed to environmental pollutants, dirt, oil, or sweat. So, I suggest you wash it when you already do your bath. 
  2. Some people suggest using foam or liquid soap for your face, but I do not use them. You can still use it if it works best for you. While taking a bath, I use three bars of soap for my face. Yes, bar soap! But hey! Is it not good for the skin? Nothing could be further from the truth. Let us face the reality that all soaps started with bars, and so ancient people had this kind of beautiful skin. Anyway, I am not here to focus on primitive people, but you can’t deny that we could learn much practical stuff from the ancient, right? The three-bar soaps consist of antibacterial, whitening, and moisturizing bar soaps. It’s better to get all those in one liquid or bar soap.
  3. When you use the bar soaps, do not directly apply them to your face. Wet the bar soap and form a foam on your palms, then apply it on your face. 
  4. First, I use antibacterial soap. I suggest the Safeguard pink brand. It is mild on the skin as it contains aloe vera. It is proven to fight pimple-causing bacteria that may cause pimples and other skin infections. Let it sit on your face for a few minutes while scrubbing your body with Biore soap. If you do not have this brand, white Perla bar soap (or the pink safeguard) removes dirt on your skin using a loofah. If you do not have the loofah, use a gentle scrubbing cloth. Then, wash everything off.

5. Next, use the whitening soap for your face and body. If you want brighter or whiter skin, do not skip this step. The soap that I recommend is the Likas Papaya soap. This soap is an effective herbal soap without artificial components. Moreover, it is enriched with Papaya Enzymes and combined with tropical herbs to lighten your skin. Again, do not directly apply the bar on your face. Create foam on your hands and apply it on your face. Let it stay there while lathering the same soap on your body. I let this soap sit on my skin for 3-5 minutes while washing clothes to maximize my time. After that, rinse it off.

6. Thirdly is the use of moisturizing soap. I use the color pink Olay bar soap for my face. It gently moisturizes the skin and helps wash away dry cells for radiant, beautiful-looking skin. It is also a whitening soap.

7. At the same time, I scrub my body with the pink A Bonne spa milk salt scrub that has Vitamin E, Pure Milk, and natural salt benefits. Since it is a body scrub, you can use it 3-5x a week. Pour some amount on your palm and gently rub it on your body in a circular motion. It removes dirt and dead skin cells, giving you fresh and glowing skin. After 3-5 minutes, rinse them off.

8. After your bath, pat your skin dry with a soft towel. If you have a Pranela cloth, use this to dry your face. As much as possible, do not use the same towel you use for your hair and your body for your face because the skin on your face is more sensitive.

9. Right after your bath, apply moisturizer cream on your face. Dr. Michael Kaminer, a board-certified dermatologist, says moisturizers work satisfactorily when the skin is hydrated. When the water on your skin dries, it can take the natural oils with it, leaving your skin feeling dry and tight. So moisturize your face and body while your skin is still moderately damp. 

10. I use the Olay moisturizing cream in a sachet for my face. It is economical, and I can use it immediately without exposing the cream to too much bacteria. This one has UV protection already, so I do not use additional sunblock cream products on my face. As much as possible, I limit putting a lot of products on my face because it causes blockages of our epidermis that result in pimple problems. Additionally, I keep my Olay moisturizer in a canister and put it in the fridge to extend its lifespan. Moreover, the effect of the cooler temperature of a moisturizer allows blood vessels to constrict, which reduces puffiness and redness on the skin. 

If you don’t have the one in sachets, you can try this Olay moisturizer that can be bought in Amazon but read the customer reviews first before purchasing. Speaking of purchasing it, try buying the smallest one first and see if it works for you.

11. After applying your moisturizer, put on your makeup as usual. But again, the fewer beauty products, the healthier the skin is.
12. For the body, apply lotion after you finish your bath. The one that works best for me is pink A Bonne body lotion, which naturally lightens skin tone. It is a fast-absorbing, non-greasy, light skin-whitening lotion, a 3X Collagen formula that helps restore skin smoothness and elasticity, making it soft, smooth, and supple.

13. I suggest using sunscreen lotion. According to research, wearing sunscreen is one of the best and easiest ways to protect our skin. Do we need to wear sunscreen every day? Absolutely, yes! Because we are all exposed to ultraviolet rays every day, and over time, the damage starts to add up. So, using it daily can protect us from skin cancer plus help us prevent sunburn and premature aging.

That being said, I highly recommend Nivea Sun Protect Super Water Gel SPF50. It is very lightweight and does not leave you looking or feeling like the oil is sleek over your face and body. Moreover, it does not clog the pores. You may feel like nothing is on your face. It’s apparent. It has a light, brief alcohol scent when applying it, but it completely disappears.

14. For the bonus part, if you feel sticky because of too much humidity, after your lunch break or a short nap where you have rested your eyes, wash your face with Ponds charcoal face wash before putting your makeup on again (quick touch-ups) to avoid the accumulation of bacteria on your skin. This detox face wash deep cleanses the pores by removing dirt, impurities, and oil. It also helps you look fresh throughout the day.

15. As much as possible, always wash the powder puff you use for the pressed powder to avoid clogging the pores that result in pimples, acne, and infections.

Overall, remember to drink lots of water or unprocessed juices. They will make your skin stay hydrated. Eat watermelon or other fruits and vegetables as your snacks. Refrain from eating junk foods and drinking soda, for this food makes your skin look dull, tired, and unhealthy.
