What are the signs that you are one of God’s chosen ones?

Do you ever wonder if you are one of them? Have you ever had a special feeling, a passion to serve, or a vision to do His will? The Bible reveals that God chooses some people for His glory and grace. Moreover, He sets them apart from the rest of the world and gives them a unique role in His plan. Additionally, He equips them with gifts, talents, and abilities that enable them to accomplish His purposes.

A calling from God.

Come, I will send you to Pharaoh that you may bring my people, the children of Israel, out of Egypt. (Exodus 3:10)

The first way to know is that you have a calling from God. You have a purpose for your life that is bigger than yourself. Also, you feel that God has placed you on this earth for a reason- to honor and serve Him.

You may not know your calling, but you trust He will show it to you in His time. Moreover, you may face difficulties, challenges, or opposition, but keep going because you know God is with you and for you.

For instance, God called Moses to lead the Israelites from slavery in Egypt. He faced many obstacles and hardships but obeyed God and followed His guidance.

Your life reflects biblical stories.

As for you, you meant evil against me, but God told it for good, to bring it about that many people should be kept alive as they are today. (Genesis 50:20)

The second way to know is that your life reflects biblical stories. For example, you may have been born unusually, like Samuel or John the Baptist. You may have been adopted or raised by someone other than your biological parents, like Moses or Esther. As well as that, you may have been persecuted or betrayed by your people, like David or Jesus.

These similarities are not coincidences but confirmations that God has a unique plan for your life. He may use these events to shape your character, test your faith, or prepare you for destiny.

For example, Joseph was traded into slavery by his siblings and ended up in prison in Egypt. But God used these events to make him the second-in-command of Egypt and save his family from famine.

You feel His presence and support.

And he lay down and slept under a broom tree. An angel touched him and said, “Arise and eat.” And he looked, and lo and behold, there was a cake baked on hot stones and a jar of water at his head. He ate and drank and lay down again. 1 King 19:5-6 

The third way to know is that you feel God’s presence and support. You may not see it with your physical eyes, but you sense it with your spiritual eyes. Indeed, you think that God is always with you, guiding, protecting, and providing for you. You also feel He has sent angels, messengers, or people to help you.

Undoubtedly, you may experience divine interventions, miraculous provisions, or timely encouragements that confirm God’s presence and power in your life. In the same way, you may receive signs, wonders, or prophecies that reveal God’s plans and purposes for your life.

You have spiritual insight.

But a God in heaven reveals mysteries and has told King Nebuchadnezzar what will be in the latter days. Your dreams and the visions of your head as you lay in bed are these. (Daniel 2:28)

A fourth way to know is that you have spiritual insight. You can distinguish between truth and error, right and wrong, and good and evil. In addition, you can recognize God’s voice from other voices, His will from other wills, and His ways from others.

Besides, you can see beyond the surface and understand things’ deeper meanings and implications. You can also perceive the spiritual realities behind physical appearances and discern the spiritual forces at work and in your life.

For example, Daniel had the gift of interpreting dreams and visions. He could reveal the mysteries of God and the secrets of the future.

You care about people who are in need.

Now, there was in Joppa a disciple named Tabitha, which, translated, means Dorcas. She was full of good works and acts of charity.  (Acts 9:36 )

A fifth way to know is that you care about people who are in need. You have a compassionate heart and a generous spirit. Without a doubt, you care about the needs of others and seek to meet them. You are not indifferent or selfish but empathetic and selfless.

Your gifts are being used for good.

Then Moses said to the people of Israel, “See, the Lord has called by name Bezalel the son of Uri, son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah; and he has filled him with the Spirit of God, with skill, with intelligence, with knowledge, and with all craftsmanship.  (Exodus 35:30-31)

A sixth way to know is that your gifts are being used for good. Unquestionably, you have talents, skills, or abilities that God has given you for His glory and the benefit of others. You do not hide or misuse them, but develop and use them wisely.

Moreover, you may have spiritual gifts such as prophecy, wisdom, knowledge, faith, or miracles. You do not boast about or abuse them but exercise them humbly and faithfully. Importantly, you use your gifts to edify the church, serve the community, and advance God’s kingdom.

You witness miracle after miracle.

Now, many signs and wonders were regularly done among the people by the hands of the apostles. (Acts 5:12)

A seventh way to know is that you witness miracle after miracle. You see God’s supernatural intervention in your life and the lives of others. Also, you see Him do things that are impossible for human beings to do. Similarly, you witness Him answer your prayers in ways that are beyond your expectations.

You may be a channel of His miracles for others, like praying for the sick and seeing them healed. As well as that, you may speak a word of faith and see mountains moved and that share testimony and see hearts changed.

You are sure of your salvation.

These things have I written unto you that believe in the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life and that ye may believe in the name of the Son of God. (1 John 5:13)

An eighth way is that you are sure of your salvation. You know you are saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. You feel forgiven of your sins, adopted into God’s family, and have eternal life and a heavenly inheritance.

Additionally, you do not doubt your salvation or fear losing it and do not rely on your work or feelings to prove it. Ultimately, you rely on God’s promises and His Spirit to confirm them.

So, are you one of God’s chosen ones? If you see any of these signs, you may have a good reason to believe you are. However, don’t take these signs for granted. Also, they are not meant to separate you from others but to connect you with them. Most importantly, they are not meant to end your journey but to start it. Indeed, being chosen by God is a beautiful gift and a serious responsibility. As 1 Peter 2:9 says, But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for His possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.
